The Men of Maple Corner A wonderful letter fron Arlington, VT |
Oct. 22, 2001 Greetings up North!!! (from down South?, Just a quick note - I spotted the article on the 'pinup boys' in the Rutland Herald last week!! I immediately made copies, notified our Town Clerk, and faxed several copies to various offices around Southern Vt. First of all - I think a lot of people were delighted to see something 'light-hearted' in the papers - as opposed to the daily stories of war, terror, and disease. I have worked in many places, many States, many different & varied jobs. I am a native Vermonter - back in this area after 30 years of living in MA, ND (!!!-talk about 'no man's land!!) and NY. I have found that a sense of humor is one of the 'keys' to survival in this tough world of ours. The "Full Vermonty" fills the bill (oops...sorry guys!!) and - it is for a good cause! We have been looking into renovating our Town Hall - a historic building in the center of Arlington. I suggested that the Selectboard follow Calais' lead - got some blank stares, and some (mostly) unprintable responses!! I supplied the local Orthopedic office with the news article - suggesting the docs could pose with medical equipment...got a much more 'favorable' response!! At any rate - Just wanted to let those involved know that you made my (and many others) day!!! - I am ordering 3 calendars - and - if the stock market ever sees its way to a more stable recovery - I may order even more!! Good Luck - HAVE FUN A Fan P.S. - I teach Anatomy & Physiology - do any of you guys want to come down and 'model'?! P.P.S. - 'John Deere' has taken on a whole new meaning! |
